Support Yourself from the ground up with Spleen Meridian…

This month I will be highlighting how Spleen Meridian works in the body, what areas it affects, and how we can feel better balanced with it.

Meridians, rivers of energy, in the body affect every organ and physicologial system, and each are ‘in charge’ of different areas. The flow of meridians is as critical as the flow of your blood. When energy gets backed up or obstructed you feel it in the form of symptoms.

Mother of the Body~

Spleen is known as the ‘Mother of the body, transporting vital energy throughout the body. If you are feeling stuck within your body or in life, it can be reflected here. If Spleen energy is weak in the body—many other meridians will also suffer. ‘I nourish myself with love’ is the affirmation for Spleen, bringing in compassion for yourself, especially in the places you may have not received it as a young child is a very powerful act in support of yourself and your Spleen energy.

Digest, metabolize and adapt life~

It also plays large role in digestion, assisting the Stomach meridian, energetically moving energy and food through the body, therefore in poor digestion, bloating, etc, can be signs of Spleen imbalance. It also provides the metabolism needed for all of life including food, emotions, hormones, environmental surroundings. All the metabolism helps us adapt to what is happening in our body and in our life. Going through transitions requires us to adapt to a new way of being.

Keeping things up, including our energy~

Spleen meridian travels up the body from the toes upwards towards the head. This is important in giving the body a lift, nourishment of energy. Fatigue and a feeling of sagging can set in when this meridian is weakened. Healthy spleen energy helps prevent prolapse.

Strong immune system~

As the largest lymphatic organ in the body it has a important role in our immune system. White blood cells stored here, helping us to fight infection. Spleen also filters the blood, old red blood cells are recycled here. Strong Spleen energy makes it easier to stay well when illness is around you!

Clear headed~

Spleen influences our capacity for thinking. Spleen imbalance can result in foggy headedness, trouble focusing, concentrating, remembering. If you are over-thinking or over-processing something, bringing balance to your Spleen meridian can help!

We can bring back our Spleen energy with simple practices and come back to giving ourselves what we are yearning for the most.
